Dr. Zimmerman is a licensed psychologist (Connecticut
and New York) with over twenty-five years experience
working with families and individuals experiencing the
stress of separation and divorce. He is a trained
mediator and also the co-founder of a program for
high-conflict divorcing or divorced families entitled
“Parents Equally Allied to Co-Parent Effectively” (the
PEACE program). He is co-author of two books on divorce
entitled, The Co-Parenting Survival Guide: Letting
Go of Conflict After a Difficult Divorce and
Adult Children of Divorce: How to Overcome the Legacy of
Your Parents’ Break-up and Enjoy Love, Trust, and
Intimacy. In 2004 Dr. Zimmerman received the
Distinguished Contribution to the Practice of Psychology
award from the Connecticut Psychological Association for
his work with high-conflict families of divorce. In 2009
Dr. Zimmerman received the award of ABPP specialty board
certification in Clinical Psychology. In 2010 Dr.
Zimmerman was made a Fellow of Division 42 Psychologists
in Independent Practice of the American Psychological
Association in recognition of outstanding contributions
to the profession of psychology. Dr. Zimmerman
received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the
University of Mississippi (1980). He also is a past
President of the Connecticut Psychological Association.
Dr. Zimmerman has been trained in numerous conflict
resolution techniques and is also trained as a Divorce
Coach and Child Specialist in the Collaborative Divorce
model. He is a frequent presenter and trainer at local
and national professional conferences. He serves as a
Special Master for the Connecticut Regional Family Trial
Docket and for the Early Intervention Program. He is a
member of the American Psychological Association,
Association of Family and Conciliation Courts,
Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation and Family
Dispute Resolution, Connecticut Psychological
Association and, International Academy of Collaborative
Professionals. |
