Collaborative
Divorce is an alternative to the adversarial divorce process
where professionals and the spouses or partners commit in writing to work
together to help the couple reach a divorce settlement out of
court which addresses the needs and interests of the couple and
their family.
CCDL is a group of experienced divorce and family
lawyers who have been trained in the collaborative
process. Each member of the group has made a commitment
to the goals of collaborative law in order to help
clients achieve fair and lasting settlements without
using the court or even the threat of court as a
bargaining tool.
You and your spouse or your partner can select from among the members
of CCDL the lawyer who suits your individual needs,
knowing that any of the members of CCDL are prepared to
work collaboratively to both promote your individual
interests and to reach a mutually acceptable settlement
both of you and your children can live with.
Membership criteria for CCDL include extensive
experience with family court proceedings for at least 5
years in and out of court and with all the issues which
arise in family law cases such as the valuation of
assets, parenting plans and child-related issues,
financial issues and use of experts. Most members of
CCDL have practiced family law for 20 years or more.
Many members are experienced in divorce mediation as
well as collaborative law.
CCDL is a member of the International Academy of
Collaborative Professionals (IACP), an organization
dedicated to spreading the collaborative divorce law
process, and helping individuals and other legal
professionals locate collaborative divorce lawyers
anywhere in the world. Visit the
IACP website for more information.
